Jews in the Wilderness

Jews in the Wilderness is an outdoor Jewish education program open to Temple Beth El members and non-members. The program meets seven Sundays throughout the school year in various outdoor locations. It's a new model of "Hebrew School," one that celebrates the beauty of our place, the wilds of spectacular Humboldt County, with a focus on earth-based spiritual Judaism, our history, songs, crafts, the Hebrew language and, of course, the food of our people.

Teachers include Student Rabbi Paige Lincenberg, local outdoor educators, and Rabbi Naomi Steinberg, who leads students in an afternoon of fun where they come together, bond, have adventures, and use the out-of-doors to convey Jewish teachings and practices.

Participant Ages:  7-13
Teen helper volunteer program age: 14-18 (Madrichim)
