Adult Education

Temple Beth El offers a wide variety of Adult Education activities, from Torah Study and Adult B'nai Mitzvah to film showings, book discussions, and guest lectures.  Unfortunately, some of these activities are on hold due to Covid-19, but as many as possible are being held online via Zoom.

Please see our online Calendar or subscribe to our Weekly Updates for the latest information on Adult Education offerings.

Here's a sampling of our Adult Education offerings:

  • Monday Night Torah with Phil Lazzar
Community member Phil Lazzar leads weekly classes on Jewish topics on Monday evenings at Temple Beth El. This week’s class information can be found on the calendar.

  • Israel Study & Discussion Group
Led by the Rabbi, the Israel Study and Discussion group covers topics including Jewish historical developments leading to the founding of Israel, Israeli-Diaspora relations, demographics, and current events. The group is open to both Temple members and the general community.

  • Torah Study
Join us every Saturday morning at 8:30 AM for Nosh ‘n Drosh, a lively, member-led discussion of the week’s Torah portion. Previous experience unnecessary; everyone is welcome

  • Adult B’nai Mitzvah
Adult B’nai Mitzvah students work with the Rabbi and other Temple teachers to prepare to chant from the Torah, deliver a D’var Torah (Torah teaching) and lead portions of the Shabbat services.  Prospective students should have proficiency in reading Hebrew phonetically and should plan for at least two years of study. To enroll in the program, contact the Rabbi.

  • Book Club
The Temple Beth El Book Club is currently on a break but we may bring it back with enough interest. If you would like to join a future book club, contact the office.
