Roz Keller: I use the Mishkan T’filah siddur and aim for a relaxed, friendly environment. We sing songs and prayers throughout the service. We do the prayers in Hebrew with some English readings. I frequently talk about the Torah portion and books of Jewish interest during the mid-point of the service.

Event Description:

Saturday Morning Torah Study
Sat, Dec 3rd at 8:30am on Zoom
with Calyah Chanah Isaacs

Shavua tov, Friends!

Ya'akov has fled home to escape Esav's vengeance for stealing the blessing. He stops at Beit Eil (Beth El, sound familiar) the first night, and the rest is "history". The parshah chronicles his sojourn in Paddan Aram, the land of Rivka's family, and building a family. The family of Avraham and Sarah, Yitzchak and Rivka, finally begins to be fruitful and multiplies!

We'll explore themes of love, envy, and connivery. We'll see mitzvah leads to mitzvah and wrong-doing leads to wrong-doing in action. The saga opens!

Our reading is in the book of Breishit:

1) 28:10-12
2) 28:13-17
3) 28:18-22
4) 29:1-8
5) 29:9-17
6) 29:18-33
7) 29:34-30:13

As always, we will go live on Zoom from everywhere at 8:30 to schmooze and nosh before we drash.
At 9 we'll make our bracha for Torah study and consider a question for the week before diving into the text, or "going inside" as they say in the yeshiva world.

Come early, come late, stay as long as works for you. We'll go till around noon.

Calyah Chanah (Caroline) Isaacs: Caroline Isaacs invites you, via Zoom, to Kabbalat Shabbat/Ma'ariv service, led from her home. Her style is mixed, more on the traditional side, family-friendly. Music/singing is important to her in con-necting with the Divine, as is the sound of Hebrew, but there will also be some English, some spoken word and silence. If everyone prints the siddur pages, or brings their own siddur, we will not have to have them taking up much of the screen, and will give us more the feeling of kahal, a gathering. (If you have previously printed them, check the current link and print those pages that have since been added.) If you have candles and/or wine/juice and/or bread, you are welcome to bring them.
