VAX UP, SAVE LIVES CAMPAIGN

The public is invited to a GIVE THANKS, VAX UP Rally on Wednesday, November 24, noon to 1 pm at the corner of Harrison and St. Joseph Lane to express thanks to nurses, doctors and hospital staff on the day before Thanksgiving. In case of a storm, the rally will be on Friday, Nov. 25.  For details, see the Humboldt Interfaith Fellowship facebook page.

Religious leaders in Humboldt County have a message for the public and they’re taking it to the streets.  On November 10th members of the Humboldt Interfaith Fellowship kicked off their “Vax Up, Save Lives” campaign with a vigil at the courthouse.  Approximately thirty people from several faith communities held signs and waved as hundreds of motorists honked and gave thumbs up in approval.

Father Daniel London commented, “I was encouraged to see all the positive responses to our signs and presence. We were also reminded that we’re not simply preaching to the choir when it comes to promoting vaccines in Humboldt County and that our message remains as important as ever. The fact that several leaders from different faith communities came together around this message to support the health of the county and to 'pray with our feet' speaks volumes."

At the close of the vigil Rabbi Naomi Steinberg gave the group a traditional Hebrew blessing.

Humboldt Interfaith Fellowship invites homeowners and businesses to display the attractive red, white and blue “Vax Up, Save Lives” yard signs that can be picked up by appointment from Christ Episcopal Church (442-1797) or Temple Beth El (444-2846).
