Here is a list of our Funds:
♦ General Fund
A gift to Temple Beth El’s General Fund supports our programs, staff, and physical structure, ensuring that TBE will continue to enrich Jewish life in Humboldt County for generations to come. Please give generously.
♦ Adult Education Fund
Help support Temple Beth El Adult Education programs.
♦ Antisemitism Task Force Fund
The primary goal of this task force is to respond to local antisemitic incidents and to provide the community at large with materials and programs to understand Jewish traditions and reduce antisemitic attitudes. A secondary goal is to educate about antisemitism within the context of other forms of racism and bigotry, and to act in solidarity and cooperation with other local groups targeted by any form of hatred.
♦ Building Fund
The Building Fund helps Temple Beth El maintain a beautiful and functional physical facility that meets our current needs, and anticipates those of the future.
♦ Camp Scholarship Fund
Provides financial aid to parents who send their children to Camps Newman and Swig.
♦ Guest Presenters Fund
Help bring scholars and guest speakers to Temple Beth El.
♦ Hevra Kadisha/Memorial Fund
Support the Hevra Kadisha Committe to provide all traditional functions at a time of death.
♦ Jews in the Wilderness Fund
Support Temple Beth El’s outdoor Jewish education program, Jews in the Wilderness.
♦ Landscaping Fund
Help the Landscaping sub-committee to maintain and improve Temple Beth El outdoor landscaping.
♦ Library Fund
Used for subscriptions, books, and other materials for our Temple library.
♦ Music/Choir Fund
Support our Choir for the High Holidays and other musical performances.
♦ Night Shelter Fund
Help our Social Action Committee to provide food for the homeless every Thursday.
♦ Rabbi Discretionary Fund
Provides funds for the Rabbi to further worthy causes, including those at TBE.
♦ Religious School Fund
Help with tuition expenses for the religious education of our members’ children.
♦ Ritual Objects Fund
Support the purchase or repair of ritual objects for the Temple.
♦ Reserve/Contingency Fund
Help Temple Beth El prepare for unusual “rainy day” expenditures.
♦ Social Action Fund
Support our Tikkun Olam activities for social, economic and environmental justice in support of the URJ Brit Olam.
♦ Security Fund
Help ensure the safety and security of Temple Beth El and its members.
♦ Tzedakah Fund
A gift to the Tzedakah Fund supports Temple Beth El in its charitable giving; donations are directed primarily to individuals in need, and to local causes that deliver direct human services.
♦ Yizkor Fund
The age-old custom of remembering the souls of the departed and contributing to charity in their memory is embedded in the fundamental Jewish belief in the everlastingness of the soul. Adonai treats our prayer and our charity as if the deceased gave it. For if not for them, the noble act would not have taken place.
