Noach

“She [the Torah] is a tree of Life to all who hold fast to Her. All Her ways are Pleasantness and all Her paths are Peace.”

This week we plan to look at three essential things.

First, this week’s Torah portion has the stories of Noah, the flood, the Tower of Babel, and it also introduces Avram (later to become Avraham), Sarai (later to become Sarah), and Lot. We plan to look at what Rashi and other sages have to teach us.

Second, we plan to begin an article by one of my teachers, Rav Avraham Brandwein ZTz”L, that he wrote as a beginner’s introduction to Torah and Judaism as seen through the eyes of Rabbi Yehuda Ashlag, the Baal Shem Tov, R. Issac Luria aka the Arizal, and Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai (the traditional author of the Zohar).

And third, we plan to begin a book by Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzato, aka the Ramchal, called The Path of The Just (Mesillat Yesharim). This book is considered by many to be a classic book of musar and by others a deep book of kabbalah. To me it looks like a practical guide to transform ourselves and the world into kedusha (holiness).

All are welcome to join us.
